Roll out an AI notice behind a feature flag

Test every flag combination that changes access to the AI interaction or its notice. Includes a free implementation worksheet.

Short answer

Test every flag combination that changes access to the AI interaction or its notice. Keep the rollout record tied to the exact audience and deployed configuration.

When to use this guide

The assistant is enabled for all accounts while its identity component remains enabled only for an internal test cohort.

This is a fictional implementation scenario. The procedure below is Article 50 Hub's suggested working method, not a prescribed legal form, a customer result or a claim that every step is an additional statutory requirement.

Review procedure

  1. List flags controlling assistant availability, notice rendering and legacy experience.

  2. Test combinations that a real account can receive, including defaults and evaluation failures.

  3. Coordinate rollout so the identity presentation matches the enabled interaction.

  4. Capture the deployed flag configuration and a representative external-account test.

What the example review finds

  • The assistant and notice use different rollout cohorts.

  • A flag service failure hides the identity component.

Keep these example observations separate from your own results. An unknown or untested state should stay open until the relevant evidence has been inspected.

Fields for your working record

  • Flag combination

  • Audience

  • Default behavior

  • Deployment configuration

  • Verification

Use the downloadable blank worksheet linked on this page to connect the observed behavior with the deployed system. Add a reviewer, date, evidence reference, unresolved questions and a next action. The worksheet is editable locally and does not upload your records to Article 50 Hub.

Completion and handoff

Close the task only for the scope actually reviewed. Preserve the result that another authorized reviewer can reproduce, identify the owner of remaining work, and record a retest when the implementation changes. A completed worksheet is not a substitute for the underlying evidence.

Decision boundary

A flag evaluation log alone does not prove what a person saw in the interface.
